Sneak Peek: Project Playhouse

July 7, 2015

Good morning, friends!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen progress photos of our latest family project, which we’ve affectionately dubbed “Project Playhouse”.  I can’t tell you how much fun we’ve had putting this playhouse together!  Though it was something we very much wanted to do, I was honestly a little worried it would become a bit overwhelming.  Nope.  We’ve had a blast working together.  Truly.

The photos above are of the playhouse in its “for now” state.  We still have plans for a chime feature in the right lower window, a chalkboard on the back interior wall, and a colorful mama-made clothesline rug for the floor.  There is also talk of an eventual hammock or even a loft.

We didn’t follow a pre-existing plan in the building of the playhouse.  We just went to the local home improvement store with Grandpa and then got to work.  As you can see, it’s construction is pretty simple.  It came together in about two days, and then we spent another day painting.

The children have already spent hours and hours playing and having fun in their new abode.  We’re all excited to keep decorating and expanding its features as needed.  I imagine this is something that will serve our family for a long time and easily “grow” with our children.  I’ll be sure to post more photos in the future!

Does your family have a backyard “playhouse”?

Carrie, this is really fantastic. What a great place for your kids to play. I love the decor. Those little desks are awesome!
