Adventures in Doll Making

November 13, 2013

Oh, my friends, I’ve started a big project.  It is a gift but fortunately my giftee is young enough that I can share here without ruining the surprise.

I’ve been wanting to make a waldorf-inspired doll for a couple of years now.  I have decided to once and for all conquer my aversion to working with knits and just dive in!  (Head first?  Probably.)  So far, I’ve made the head.  It has been such fun!  I have, admittedly, sent more than one frantic message to a good friend and excellent sewist, but I’m feeling more confident as I go along and with a walking foot on the way, I’m looking forward to sewing the body.

As far as resources go, I’m using this book and this book, along with various online tutorials.  (I have a pinterest board here if you would like to take a peek!)  I’m also pouring over the archives of a couple of seriously beautiful blogs for inspiration.

Any doll makers out there?
