Waiting…

December 22, 2011

Baby N by the tree

Hello Friends,

Something I’ve learned through two pregnancies is that babies care not for due dates, or schedules of any kind for that matter.  (And why should they?)  Sometimes all the waiting and wondering is such fun!  Other times, it’s a real exercise in patience!  Baby N is “due” any day now, and I thought it might be fun to try to guess the specifics…

How much will Baby N weigh?

How long will she be?

What color hair will she have?

Will she have hair at all?

When might she make her appearance?

What time of day?

I’d love to hear your guesses!  In the meantime, we’re waiting, settling in, celebrating, and always knitting.

xo,
Carrie

I am gonna be nice and give you a small but healthy baby of 7lbs, 8oz / 20″ long with lots of reddish brown hair. And I always labor in the evenings, so a day birth sounds weird to me. How about 11pm? :) the day after Christmas. It’s fun guessing, but it will be even more fun to see her. Are you still planning a home birth?

We’re planning (hoping for) a VBAC but not a homebirth. It’s tricky and our midwife could have lost her license had she offered us a homebirth. At 32 weeks we switched to an OB (recommended by our midwife) and will be having a hospital birth (eeek! I know!). We’ve had to make compromises but it’s all in the name of doing the best we can with our particular situation, you know? :)

On the plus side, our OB is VBAC friendly and has a very good record for “success”. He also has three midwives working with him. So, it is still very likely that we will have a midwife attended birth. As for our usual midwife, we are going to call her when it’s time and hopefully she will not be attending another birth at the time and will be able to attend our birth in a doula capacity.

We’ve also put very specific instructions/preferences in place… skin to skin immediately, delayed procedures, what we want to happen in case of c-section… stuff like that. Like I said, a bit of compromise (how I would love a homebirth!), but we’re making peace with it in order to give our girl the best entry into this world we can. xoxo.

Lets see she will make her appearance on the 27th in the early evening weighing in at a healthy 8.3 pounds and she will be 20.6 inches long. Of course she will have dark hair that will eventually turn to the prettiest shade of auburn :)

I vote for the morning of the 27th but that’s just because that is when I had mine. As for the details I’ll guess 7 lbs 10 ounces and 20″ long. Lots of auburn hair! Wishing you a beautiful birth, and a very happy holiday!
