Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

February 23, 2011

This cookie recipe is a chocolate variation of our favorite peanut butter cookie recipe.

Go ahead, help yourself.  They’re oh-so-very good.  Please be cautious though…  For next thing you know, you’ll have eaten far too many and have yourself quite a tummy ache!  Not that we would know anything about that!  *ahem*

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
Makes approximately 4 doz. cookies

  • 1 1/2 C Sugar
  • 1 Tbs Molasses
  • 1/2 C Shortening
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 Tbs Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 C Peanut Butter (we use creamy)
  • 1/2 C Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/4 C Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Mix sugar, molasses, shortening, milk, vanilla, and peanut butter in the bowl of a stand mixer (or use a hand mixer).  Add egg and mix.
  3. Add salt and flour.  Mix.
  4. Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet lined with silicone mat (or parchment paper).  Press with fork.
  5. Bake for 7 minutes.  Be careful not to over-bake!
  6. Let cool on cookie sheet then transfer to an airtight container.
  7. Enjoy!
