Review & Give-Away: Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop

November 16, 2010

I know what you might be thinking:  “A mop review?  Really, Carrie?”  You’re right; this isn’t the sort of product we typically review on Oh Baby O.  But, as it turns out, I too must occasionally clean the floors.  Besides, this isn’t any ol’ mop review.  This, my friends, is the Rubbermaid Reveal.

When our Rubbermaid Reveal Mop arrived a few weeks ago, I think B was more excited about it than anyone.  He had it filled with solution and mopping the kitchen floor before I even managed to open the box.  That must be a good sign!

When I got my turn, I realized the Reveal is similar in some ways to our old mop, but so much better overall!  First of all, The microfiber pad is reusable!  (Our old one is as well, but isn’t quite as sturdy.)  You just mop your floor as usual and then toss the used pad in your machine.  Not only is this eco-friendly, but pretty darn convenient too!  The pad is attached to a swiveling head so it does a great job getting those harder to reach spots.  I’m even able to use it in the narrow spaces around the toilet in our bathroom.

While our old mop did have a reusable microfiber pad, it did not have a refillable bottle for spraying as you go!  I used to do my mopping while holding a spray bottle in one hand and the mop in the other.  While this method worked, it certainly wasn’t convenient!  Being the crunchy couple that we are, B and I love the opportunity to use homemade cleaning solutions.  It saves money and is more safe for our home, especially with a toddler running about.  We usually just opt for a water and vinegar solution, but I sometimes like to add a couple of drops of  essential oil for fragrance.  (Lavender is a favorite.)

If I win, I’m totally giving this to myself for Christmas! I have been wanting one so much and even asked my husband for one! I’m so excited you’re giving it away!! :) I love my Swiffer, because otherwise I have to get down on my hands and knees scrubbing, but I’ve had my eye on this forever. I also hate buying refills. I would try the 2 T baking soda, 2-3 drops of liquid soap (I want to try that Castille stuff that smells good) and hot water.

I love the idea of a reusable mop pad. With our old mop we were always running out of the disposable pads and I would be cleaning the floor by hand…..back breaking!!

Honestly, I like their coolers, especially the 34 qt. one. We’re about to have our sweet girl’s birthday party with both of our big families and the biggest cooler we have is lunchbox size. No good.

Oh, and I would use the the 2 T baking soda, 2-3 drops of liquid soap…to help reduce the pet smell we sometimes get with 2 dogs and a cat.

Commented on the Knit Mitts post, but did I tell you I made the toddler cookies? I’m pretty sure we enjoyed them as much as our “toddler” :)

Since we have vinyl (which I would love to replace) I would go with cleaning solution #2.
    • 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
    • 2-3 drops liquid soap
    • Fill the rest with hot water
I use Dr. Bronners liquid soap and it’s amazing stuff!

Another product that I would love to get is the Reveal Dry Dusting Microfiber that you can attach to this mop to sweep the floor first.

okay i would/will use all three of the solutions listed on the blog. I have wood, glazed tile and unglazed tile in my house and love the idea of using natural cleaners. Do you know if any of these leave the floor feeling sticky? That is my number on complaint with most chemical cleaners so i will be excited to see if these don’t!

    Thank you!

I NEED a new mop! Lol, I actually hadn’t seen this product before and was considering something similar but it is always out of stock at the store. I like to use my own cleaning solutions but have found it to be difficult to mop with one in the past since you have to spray the floor then follow behind and mop. I have a lot of floor to mop and this is the perfect solution!
