Quick Change Trousers

August 4, 2010

Not so long ago, I was lucky enough to win a copy of Anna Maria Horner’s new book, Handmade Beginnings.  After flipping through the pages of my new treasure, I just could not get over the Quick Change Trousers pattern!  So cute!  Then when these little trousers started popping up on some of my favorite blogs, I knew I could not wait any longer!

I made this pair for O in about 4 hours or so…  That includes ironing fabric and tracing/cutting pattern pieces.  I’m thrilled with how they turned out!  Great for using random bits of fabric and sooo cute too!

I made the 18 month size and they’re just a teensy bit big.  The length is fine on my tall boy as the cuffs can be rolled as needed.  I do wish I had made the elastic waist just a tad smaller though.  Then again, since the weight of double layered pants, even if it is light cotton, will probably be more appropriate for Autumn than August, I might have gotten the sizing just right after all!

So, what are you working on this week?

First of all, love the pants and I love those blogs too. This week I made a bib, an owl and a fish for my son. I am working on some more fish, pjs and a headband for me. I have had a fun sewing week!
