Review & Give-Away: Green to Grow

May 4, 2010

Before Baby O was born, we didn’t have any intention of using baby bottles, or at least not very often.  When it became clear that our breastfeeding relationship was going to be unique, I started researching bottles.  When I came across Green to Grow, I have to admit the aesthetics of their bottle is what first caught my eye, but it was their story that made me want to try them!

We have been using two 8 oz Green to Grow glass baby bottles for a couple of months now.  We like glass bottles for a number of reasons:

  1. glass is BPA-free- Read about the possible risks of BPA here.
  2. glass is easier to clean–  We have very hard water.  In our experience, glass bottles seem to rinse cleaner than plastic.
  3. glass lasts longer–  We won’t be saving any of our plastic bottles for the next baby.  Even though all of our bottles are BPA-free, including the plastic ones, there’s just something about plastic that makes me think it might not be a good idea to keep it sitting around waiting in between babies.  (Though, hopefully, future children won’t need bottles at all.)

Our overall experience with Green to Grow glass bottles has been a positive one.  The shape is contoured and easy to grip.*  We have never had any problems with cracking or chipping.  The glass is thick, but I would not say it is heavy.  Much to my delight, this bottle easily fits my pump (Medela PISA, if you’re wondering)!  We have had some issues with nipple collapse as always seems to be the case with bottles that do not have a venting system.  Loosening the collar just a bit usually fixes the problem though!

Green to Grow is an exceptional company committed not only to providing safe BPA-free bottles, but a company that is also committed to the world around them.  Read more about their commitment here.
